Background to Community Builders
Community Builders is an exciting youth-led organisation. It builds on experience
from delivering two successful projects, Y consult and For-Real. For REAL was a youth empowerment forum focused on addressing
the pressures faced by disadvantaged and unmotivated young people in today’s society. Y-Consult is a social consultancy
focusing on planning, fundraising and advising on community youth projects, particularly those with an arts and heritage focus.
Community Builders is a social enterprise and company limited by guarantee, providing a range of services for young
people and those working with young people. These include:
• Working with young people through providing activities
in schools and organisations (REAL Talk Schools Programme);
• Facilitating consultation with young people through
events;
• Providing training for professionals working with or encountering young people in their work;
•
Providing mentoring support for young people on the brink of or engaged in antisocial or criminal activity, or who are close
to exclusion from school.

Mission
Our
main aim is to raise aspirations through peer-led programmes through the form of workshops, projects, and events. This will
mainly be through using the REAL Talk structure.
We will mainly deliver these sessions where we are commissioned
to do so by schools, colleges, youth organisations as well as by local authorities through YOT Teams and other commissioners.
We will also undertake youth engagement activities including promotion and delivery of positive campaigns, where these
are made more effective by being youth-led.
We aim to remain sustainable in the long-term through balancing fee income
charged on a commercial basis with core funding from a few funders who will in the short and medium run enable a core staff
to develop the business.
